Busy weekend...

We were crazy busy this weekend, but it was really nice. We had a birthday party, got to see our god daughter, saw Great Grandpa, Joan, Scott, Lisa, Jack and Clare, had breakfast with Dr. Auntie J-Lo, and went to Noah's first Margarita party.

Noah has been working on a post, so hopefully that will surface this week. Anyway, nothing too funny to report, so here are some pics...

Oh! We got Noah's Halloween costume...so cute...but you will have to wait to see it!

PowerShot A630

So, I bet you are wondering how I took pictures of my A10. Well, I bought a brand new shiny PowerShot A630 today!

When I was writing the check...yes, are you wondering who still writes checks? That would be me, right now. Over Labor Day I lost my debit card. So, I called and cancelled it. It will take 7-10 business days to get a new one...I think we are on day 10. Anyway, guess what mysteriously showed up last night in the middle of the hallway...my card. I have no idea where it was, but I have a sneaky suspicion that a 30 inch tall person may have had something to do with it. So, therefore I now have to write checks.

Anyway...when I was writing the check I couldn't help but think that I really should be spending my...uhhh...Ted's hard earned money on tires instead of a fancy, new, just released camera. But I justified it by saying that I could not go another day without taking pictures of my sweet, currently into everything, driving me insane, Noah. At least now I can take a picture of my car on the side of the highway with a blown out tire, right?

There has been a death....

in our family... My Canon PowerShot A10 (the first of its generation) has passed on. I bought this camera when it first came out in 2001. I had won an award at work and received a $250 gift certificate. It was the coolest camera...digital and optical zoom, 1.3 mega pixels and it was a brute. That camera took some abuse. It has gone everywhere with us. Vacations, weddings, honeymoons, Italy, Germany, well all over Europe, birthday parties, bachelorette parties, strip clubs (hehe)...ahhh I am really going to miss it...

It is funny really...I have been wanting a new camera for a while. The only thing I wanted was a camera with more mega pixels so I can print bigger pictures. However, I could not justify buying one when my little A10 was still kicking. I would let Noah play with it thinking that if he broke it then I could get a new one. People would say "should Noah be playing with that?"..."Sure, I want a new one..." I think in the back of my mind I never really thought anyone could break it. I was wrong...

My A10's final moments...It's batteries were dying, but I could always suck more juice out of those things. It was a game me and the A10 would play. Anyway, Noah has learned how to turn on the camera. He must have turned it on and the batteries did not have enough power to retract the lense when in turned itself off. Therefore, the lense was out. Noah had grabbed the camera from the office, Ted was in the kitchen and I was in the front room. Noah ran from the office into the kitchen to show daddy what he had...the A10. Ted asked for the camera and Noah threw it toward him. The poor A10 landed right on it lense on the hard floor. The outside of the lense cracked and the whole thing is crooked. It won't retract and won't turn on...

I thought that this is what I wanted and now I am sad...even Ted is kinda sad. We have had that camera our whole relationship. We have had it longer than the cats... It was a member of our family, a travel companion, a great reliable friend. You will be sorely missed my little A10.

It has been busy...

So, Tuesday night Ted and I went to The Dave Mathews concert. It was so good! It was like a crazy jam session. Ted thought it was a good idea to have a shot of Patron before it started...funny because he hates Tequila... Anyway, next time you see him ask him to show you his newest dance moves...it is pretty entertaining...

One of my good friends, Suzie and her baby Zachary came and played with Noah for the night. Thank you so much Suzie!! You are the best!

Yesterday, Noah and I went and met some other moms at the Westminster Mall play area. They have a really nice area that is not overly populated with crazy older kids. It was fun!

After the mall Noah and I went to Costco...did a little buffetin'...and bought a birthday gift for Chloe. I picked up pamphlet for countertops and Noah thought it was pretty good reading...see pic below.

Today, we had lunch with my friend Christy. It was so nice getting caught up on her life. If anyone knows of a house for sale in the DTC area, let me know...she is working very hard on finding the perfect home.

Friday, we are going to an indoor play area, Saturday we have Chloe’s birthday party and Sunday we are taking Noah to his first Margarita party with a live band at our friends Jeff and Tina's house. Come on...it is going to happen some day...we would rather his first be with us...

Here are some cute pics...enjoy!

30.45....

...what a beautiful number! That...my friends is the miles per gallon our new..used car got on it's first tank of gas. We did take it down to P-Town for the day, so it had a good amount of highway and city mileage. Still very happy with the purchase...even with the tire thing...and belts (which we knew...again).

I just asked Ted what the LC gets so you have a reference for the level of pain gas prices have inflicted upon us...his response..."SHIT". Well, to be more exact...I think the LC gets around 13-15 mpg. Gotta love the V8!

Good news here...premium is below $3.00/gallon!

What a great vacation!

I started to write this in May and then we moved and I have not been able to catch up...sorry Paige!

My friend Paige came to visit. We were so happy to see her!

Paige arrived on Wednesday, April 19. That day we hung out in downtown Frankfurt. We had some lunch along the Main River and I introduced her to a Puddingbretzel. So yummy!

On Thursday morning we all piled into the car and headed east to Berlin. We had spent a lot of time driving in Western Germany, so it was interesting to notice a change in the scenery as we entered Eastern Germany.

We spent Thursday evening walking around the shopping area near our hotel. Ted had lunch/dinner with us, but then had to go to an evening function for work.

Oh, I forgot. Paige, Noah and I also successfully navigated our way through the trains and ended up at Brandenburg Gate.

Paige, Noah and I got up on Friday morning and took off to see some sites. Ted had meetings all day, so we were on our own. We decided to take a bus tour of the city. It made us realize that there is so much to see in Berlin and we did not have enough time to do any of it. Someday, I would like to go back.

Berlin has so much history of conflict and resolution. The area where the wall once stood a.k.a. "The Dead Zone" is now filled with memorials, new modern buildings and a large performing arts center. They have left a piece of the wall standing for history's sake. Did you know that the wall is actually two walls with a path in the middle? This is where the guards would walk.

Amidst all of the new construction they have left Check Point Charlie. This is the only point where people were allowed to move between East and West Germany.

For me, I did not fully understand the significance of the events that occurred in 1989 until I witnessed the history with my own eyes. During this trip we also visited Liepzig where the uprising began.

After our morning bus tour, we hopped in the car and headed out to Potsdam...that is to come...

A whole lot of nothing...

That is what we have done this week. Well, I should take that back...we went to Pueblo on Tuesday...that was fun! Otherwise we have hung around the house all week. Noah had been a little sick, so I could not take him to the gym daycare. I thought he was better, but this morning he was coughing again. We think that it is teething, but who knows.

Ted is still working a lot. At least now that he is a manager he can do more work from home. So, he gets home around 7ish plays with Noah and then puts him to bed and then does more work. Poor guy...should be over soon...so he says.

These are some pictures I took this week. Noah did not like wearing these glasses a few weeks ago, now they are a game...

Isn't she cute?

A few weeks ago we decided to buy a used car. It got really hard only having one car because Ted had to go to clients at least twice a week. So, I spent last week looking for the perfect used car at the right price. I found this!

She belonged to a mom of two and lived in Longmont. She took great care of the car. The inside looks perfect and it only has 78,000 miles. That is pretty good for a 1999.

I took it down to P-Town so my brother could look at it...well, it needs new tires and new belts (that we knew). The tire thing kinda sucks because I just put new tires on the LC on Friday...that was a pretty darn expensive.

Regardless, I am really enjoying driving this car! It reminds me of our Passat in Germany, but a little older and with less power...but not too much less. So far it is getting great gas mileage...which is one of the main reasons we got it.

It is funny...a few years ago I would have insisted on at least a V6 Turbo...updated body...priced at the max of our budget amount. Now, I WANTED the 4 cylinder, didn't mind the body and LOVED the price!

Noah loves it too because he is now forward facing in his car seat…

PS - We rent the basement of the house in the background...

Labor Day Hike

Ted actually got the day off today, so we decided to go hiking. We headed northwest of Boulder to take a hike to Mitchell Lake and Blue Lake. It was a 5.6 mile round trip hike. We had a lot of fun! It was nice to get out and get some fresh air. Noah did great back in the pack. He got out a few times to walk around. He can climb over the rocks with such determination. He amazes us every day.

The Midichlorian Count is high in this one...

Ted finally broke down and bought his first real/replica Light Saber... It is Luke's from Episode 6. Anyway, he plays with it everyday when he gets home from work. He tries to hide it from Noah because he is afraid Noah will break it...valid fear if you ask me. Well, Noah is very resourceful and has a great memory...he is constantly dragging that thing out...thankfully he can't turn it on...yet.
